ABOUT US - JANE BRAND
Many of you know Jane, she's the face of The Brand Family's business.
She never stops - as the farm shop anchor, farm administrator, caravan park receptionist - if you need to know something about East Fortune Farm, just ask Jane!
We thought you'd like to hear about what makes Jane tick and what she does in her (limited) spare time - here's a Q&A with Jane
🌻
Q. What's the best thing about East Fortune Farm?
A. I love how diverse yet connected the business is and how we cope together with the work as a family.
🍹
Q. How do you relax?
A. Socialising mainly - for me there is nothing better than finishing work on a Friday night and welcoming friends over for drinks and dinner with all the kids. Plus our Sunday night ritual of jumping into the hot tub!
🍹
Q. What's your favourite food/restaurant?
A. The Kitchin in Leith. I just love the whole dining experience. It’s great sitting watching the kitchen working away creating delicious dishes. The staff provide an outstanding service as well as exceptional food! It’s not just a meal out it’s an unforgettable experience.
📺
Q. What's your favourite tv show?
A. We have loved Line of Duty (who hasn't?) but really anything recommended on Netflix after the kids are in bed and my laptop is shut down, it's the perfect switch off!
📔
Q. What's the last book you read?
A. I’m guilty of not reading books at the moment - it's more the butchery information, labelling regulations, recipes and searching the web for lovely new local artisan produce now!
🌈
Q. What's the best thing about living & working in East Lothian?
A. Having been brought up in Larbert in the Central Belt, East Lothian is just so different- so bright, colourful, fresh and being a Cancarian I just love the seaside! I personally love North Berwick, it really is my favourite town.
As youngsters, it was our holiday destination and I feel so lucky to live here now. After University, where I studied Business, I commuted into Edinburgh for several years, but I just couldn't go back to that!
Working for ourselves allows me to have that determination to succeed, excitement of building the business, creating new working relationships, meeting fabulous locals and all from my home and surrounded by my family! Best of both worlds with Edinburgh just 20 mins up the road.
🛶🍹
Q. Favourite place?
A. Other than North Berwick I would have to say Loch Lomond. I have so many happy memories of family holidays with my Mum Jean at Jetty Lodge near Cameron House which is also where Grant & I got engaged nearly 20 years ago!
😍
Q. Where do you see yourself In 5 years time?
A. I hope Grant and I will have succeeded in growing our farm shop & tourism businesses and our home reared pork and lamb goes from strength to strength and continues to be recognised by locals, visitors and Chefs alike.
Plus the boys, Ritchie and Robert will be 5 years older so 2 strong handsome young gentlemen helping me out more sounds great!
I'd also love to think we'll still be having a family dinner at Grandpa Donaldson’s house every Wednesday night....you just can’t beat his Stroganoff! 🙌🏻
